What is fatty liver?

Fatty liver is a disease if you eat more carbohydrates or fat or both than your liver can handle. Excess fat normally gets stored in the cells but after a limit they start getting deposited in and around the liver and cause problems, the current busy lifestyle and improper diet can lead to many health problems. One of these is fatty liver. This condition occurs due to accumulation of unnecessary fat in the liver cells. It can be said in simple words that the problem of fatty liver was first seen at the age of fifty-six. Now due to changed dietary style, excessive consumption of oily food, inclusion of pizza-burgers in the diet, this disease seems to be increasing among the youth also.

Symptoms of Fatty Liver

1) Increase in abdominal circumference

2) Continuous weight gain

3) Enlargement and swelling of the liver

4) Nausea

5) loss of appetite

6) Lack of enthusiasm in work. 

 7) Swelling in feet.

8) Constant fatigue, lack of enthusiasm.

9) Pain in the right side of the stomach.

What to do to avoid fatty liver?


1) weight control 

2) Controlling blood sugar levels

3) Stop drinking alcohol and smoking immediately.

4) Control over cholesterol and blood pressure.

5) Nutritionally-balanced diet

6) Regular exercise daily 

7) Walk for at least 45 minutes, do pranayam.

 8) Include fruits, vegetables, beans, bran in the diet.

9) Avoid fried food and junk food.

10) Take diet as per the advice of dietician 

11) One should not take any medicine willingly without the advice of a doctor/ayurvedic practitioner.

11) Include fiber (chotha) rich food in daily diet like. Leafy vegetables and whole wheat bread must be included in the diet. Fruits, leafy vegetables, raw salads should be included. Eating with a calm and happy mind helps in digesting the food properly. One should not avoid having breakfast in the morning.

 12) Eat at least one or two fruits a day.

Diet:- Avoiding spicy, sour, oily, gram, peas, kidney beans and urad dal.
